Artist's Description
This composite school house was inspired by several from the Northern Plains, often coming upon them unexpectedly while driving. Seeing the structure surrounded by overgrown grass and defunct playground equipment, imagining the children of days gone by, and the loneliness of the setting, all combine in my imagination in a deeply moving way. This one really pulls at the heartstrings, Scott ... I'm with you on the feeling of days gone by and the irresistible pull buildings like that can have. I love your slight leaning of the schoolhouse. Though I've never been to the midwest, you've given an east coast gal like myself a real feel for the sweeping plains and the winds and wide open spaces I've read and heard so much about. Your capture of the essence of the lands there is magical. Awesome!!!! l/f t and p
