Description
My affection for grain elevators grows in part from their spacing along the Hi Line of Northern Montana. Originally created for the railroad, the towns that dotted the line were spaced at 9 or 10 mile intervals. And the elevators, seen from far away, act much like church steeples in Europe - as tools of navigation and measures of distance. This may be why elevators are often called "cathedrals of the plains."
